Don’t miss the opportunity to attend this event on the penultimate day of the exhibitions!
The first project focuses on bread as a core symbol of Ukrainian culture and identity. From a wedding loaf to a daily slice of bread, bread is more than just a staple food for Ukrainians — it is part of our cultural fabric, telling the story of labour, the struggle for freedom, the tragedy of the Holodomor, the joy of living fully, and a deep respect for the land. This unique exhibition project presents a multi-layered story about bread, in which the history of agriculture, the annual calendar of rituals, and collective memory are intertwined with artistic reinterpretation. The exhibition covers the path of bread from ancient agrarian civilizations and Trypillian culture to the present day, displaying archaeological artefacts, traditional tools, ceremonial items, and historical and artistic creations by prominent Ukrainian artists.
The second project is a tribute exhibition ‘Ivan’s Land’, which will honour the memory and explore the work of the distinctive self-taught artist Ivan Prykhodko. He was one of the most prominent representatives of naïve art in contemporary Ukrainian applied arts. Ivan Prykhodko’s paintings, in some ways resonating with the style of the world-famous naïve artist Mariia Prymachenko, are distinguished by Ukrainian decorative elements, colour expression, and the author’s unique vision. The paintings of this talented artist will not fail to impress any visitor.
