Dear colleagues!
The Foreign Policy Research Institute, with the assistance of the State Enterprise ‘Directorate-General for Rendering Services to Diplomatic Missions’, invites you to participate in the roundtable discussion for foreign diplomatic missions, leading Ukrainian mass media outlets, and experts titled Global Geopolitical Transformations Affecting Ukraine and the World in 2026 amid the Third World War, which will take place on Friday, 27 February 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:10 pm at the GDIP Media Center Directorate located at 6-А Pyrohova St.
The event will address the following conceptual issues:
- The shift in the global balance of power: China is waiting in the wings, the United States is seeking a ‘new bipolarity’, russia is pursuing revanche, Europe is unable to attain global agency.
- Global geopolitical powers as disruptors of the existing system of international relations.
- Can Donald Trump reverse the system of international relations to a ‘new bipolarity’?
- Is China capable of creating a unipolar, China-centred world as a result of the Third World War?
- Will 2026 become a turning point in the russian-Ukrainian war and in deterring the Third World War, as reflected in the 2026 Munich Security Conference assessments?
- Europe facing challenges from russia and the United States.
- Europe’s fate in 2026: war with the russian federation or the appeasement of russia at the cost of Europe’s future.
- Projects for a future European security architecture: an order emerging from NATO’s ruins, a NATO + EU tandem, or building Europe’s own autonomy.
- Three scenarios for the russian-Ukrainian war for Ukraine in 2026: victory, defeat, or a temporary ceasefire followed by the continuation of the war.
The event’s speakers:
- Oleksandr KHARA, director of the Centre for Defence Strategies;
- Vladyslav KLOCHKOV, major general, Ukrainian military officer and scholar;
- Valentyn BADRAK, director of the Centre for Army, Conversion and Disarmament Studies;
