The Ukrainian Academy of Geopolitics and Geostrategy, with the organizational support of the GDIP, invites you to participate in a presentation of Oleksandr Savchenko’s book Escalation. Battle of Presidents and a roundtable discussion on the topic: Escalation of Confrontation: The World on the Brink of World War III. What Are the Possible Consequences?
The event will take place on Wednesday, 15 April 2026, at 11:00 am, at the GDIP Media Center, located at: 6-A Pyrohova Street, Kyiv. The event will be held in a combined format: in-person and online via the Zoom platform.
Moderator: Pavlo HAI-NYZHNYK, Doctor of History, leading research fellow of the Kuras Institute of Political and Ethnic Studies of the NAS of Ukraine, president of the Ukrainian Academy of Geopolitics and Geostrategy.
Speaker:
- Oleksandr SAVCHENKO, Doctor of Economics, Rector of the International Institute of Business, Deputy Minister of Finance of Ukraine (2009–10), academician of the Ukrainian Academy of Geopolitics and Geostrategy, deputy head of the National Bank of Ukraine (1991–2; 2005–9).
- Volodymyr OHRYZKO, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (2007–9), Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Head of the Center for russian Studies, academician of the Ukrainian Academy of Geopolitics and Geostrategy.
The following topics will be discussed during the event:
- Presentation of Oleksandr Savchenko’s book Escalation. Battle of Presidents.
- The possible political consequences of the escalation of global confrontation.
- The possible financial and economic consequences of the escalation of global confrontation.
- The impact of the escalation of global confrontation on the redistribution of energy resources and influence.
- Consequences for Ukraine’s national security: ways forward.
