Roundtable discussion entitled Three Main Factors in Defeating russia: Sanctions, Weapons and the putin Regime

Dear colleagues!

 

The Centre for russian Studies, with the organisational support of the Directorate-General for Rendering Services to Diplomatic Missions, invites you to take part in a roundtable discussion entitled Three Main Factors in Defeating russia: Sanctions, Weapons and the putin Regime. The event will take place on 25 March 2025 at 11:00 am in the GDIP Media Center at 6-A Pyrohova St, Kyiv. The event will be held in a hybrid format: online and offline.

Volodymyr OHRYZKO, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (2007–9), Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Head of the Centre for russian Studies, will moderate the event.

The roundtable discussion will involve:

  • Yuliia PAVYTSKA, Manager of Sanctions Programme at KSE Institute;
  • Volodymyr VLASIUK, PhD in Economics, Chairman of the Board of the Institute for National Economic Development;
  • Serhii ZGHURETS, Director of the Defense Express Media & Consulting Company, Member of the Board of the League of Defense Companies of Ukraine; 
  • Syreś BOLÄEŃ, member of the Free Nations League.

The following conceptual issues will be discussed during the event:

  1. Will international sanctions remain an effective tool of pressure on russia?
  2. ⁠How long can the russian economy withstand sanctions? Can it overcome the structural imbalances they have caused?
  3. ⁠Will we run out of weapons? Prospects for receiving arms from the USA and Europe.
  4. Key considerations in producing modern weaponry in Ukraine.
  5. National resistance, regional peculiarities or the putin regime: what will undermine russia from within faster?

Working language: Ukrainian with simultaneous interpretation into English.
