Roundtable discussion ‘Good russians’ — Who Are They?

Dear colleagues!

The Centre for russian Studies, with organisational support of the State Enterprise ‘Directorate-General for Rendering Services to Diplomatic Missions’ invites you to participate in a roundtable discussion on the following subject entitled ‘Good russians’ — Who Are They? (The Phenomenon of ‘Good russians’ in the Hybrid War of muscovy Against Ukraine and the West). The roundtable will be held on 19 December 2024, 11:00 am, at the GDIP Media Center: Kyiv, 6-A Pyrohova St. The event will be held online and offline.

Event moderator: Volodymyr OHRYZKO, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (2007–9), Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Head of the Centre for russian Studies.

The event will feature the following speakers:

  • Oleh DUNDA, Member of the Ukrainian Parliament;
  • Svitlana YEREMENKO, Director of the Pylyp Orlyk Institute for Democracy;
  • Aider MUZHDABAEV, journalist, analyst, and Deputy Director-General of ATR TV Channel;
  • Vitalii PORTNYKOV, publicist (online); 
  • Nataliia STEBLYNA, analyst at the Pylyp Orlyk Institute for Democracy and co-author of Deconstructors of Truth;
  • Roman TSYMBALIUK, journalist.

The agenda of the discussion will consist of the following questions:

  1. Does a liberal-democratic opposition exist in muscovy;
  2. ‘Russian liberals’ — portraits of the ‘heroes’;
  3. ‘Russian liberalism’ as an extension of muscovite imperialism: Whose Crimea, and why is ‘not everything so clear-cut’;
  4. Information outlets of ‘russian liberalism’;
  5. The collective West and ‘russian liberalism’ — how long can blindness and deafness persist;
  6. ‘What is to be done?’ (not according to Chernyshevsky).

Event language: Ukrainian with simultaneous interpretation into English.
