Roundtable entitled Parliamentary Elections in the Republic of Moldova — the Ukrainian Context…

Dear Colleagues!

The Institute of World Policy, together with the non-governmental organisations Ukrainian Center of Peacebuilding and Institute of Democratization and Development, with organisational support from the State Enterprise ‘Directorate-General for Rendering Services to Diplomatic Missions’ (GDIP), invites you to attend a roundtable for foreign diplomatic missions, experts, and leading domestic and international media entitled Parliamentary Elections in the Republic of Moldova — the Ukrainian Context… The event will take place on Tuesday, 16 September 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Media Center Directorate of the GDIP located at 6-А Pyrohova St, Kyiv.

During the round table, the participants will discuss:

  1. The agenda of the parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova: internal threats and external challenges;
  2. Russian attempts to destabilise the socio-political situation in the Republic of Moldova before and during the parliamentary elections;
  3. The role of the Moldovan and Ukrainian diasporas.

The following experts will take part in the event:

    • Yevhen MAHDA, moderator, director of the Institute of World Policy;
    • Artur KHARYTONOV, president of the Liberal Democratic League of Ukraine NGO;
    • Vadym HALAICHUK, member of Parliament of Ukraine, first deputy chair of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the European Union;
    • Marianna PRYSIAZHNIUK, political analyst at the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation;
    • Dmytro SAVIUK, head of the Institute of Democratization and Development;
  • Mihai ISAC, editor-in-chief of the Karadeniz press, journalist of the TVR Moldova;
  • Dmytro LEKARTSEV, head of the National Congress of Ukrainians of Moldova;
  • Stanislav ZHELIKHOVSKYI, PhD in Political Science, corresponding member of the Ukrainian Academy of Geopolitics and Geostrategy.

The event will feature expert discussions and presentations on the current situation, with a focus on the destructive attempts of russia’s leadership — violating international law — to interfere in the parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova scheduled for 28 September 2025. The aim of these attempts is to lower voter turnout or to persuade citizens to support pseudo-European forces through disinformation campaigns and the discrediting of Moldovan state institutions. The discussion will also highlight Moldova’s experience of resisting russian propaganda and information-related challenges before and during the elections, exposing manipulations targeting the Moldovan diaspora, and the kremlin’s deliberate ‘focus’ on overseas voters, who played a significant role in Maia Sandu’s presidential victory.
