Roundtable: ‘The Victory Plan and the outcomes of the U.S. presidential elections: new windows of opportunity for Ukraine?’

Dear colleagues!

The Centre for russian Studies, with organisational support of the State Enterprise ‘Directorate-General for Rendering Services to Diplomatic Missions’ invites you to participate in a roundtable discussion on the following subject: ‘The Victory Plan and the outcomes of the U.S. presidential elections: new windows of opportunity for Ukraine?’ The roundtable will be held on 7 November 2024, 11:00 am, at the GDIP Media Center: Kyiv, 6-A Pyrohova St. The event will be held online and offline.

Event moderator: Volodymyr OHRYZKO, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (2007–9), Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Head of the Centre for russian Studies.

The event will feature the following speakers:

  • Olena HETMANCHUK, Founder and Director of the New Europe Center, Non-resident Senior Fellow at the Eurasia Center of the Atlantic Council;
  • Mykhailo SAMUS, Director of the New Geopolitics Research Network;
  • Oleksandr SAVCHENKO, Rector of the International Institute of Business;
  • Oleh SHAMSHUR, diplomat, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United States (2005–10) and France (2014–20). 

The agenda of the discussion will consist of the following questions: 

  1. The Ukrainian Victory Plan: everything covered? 
  2. NATO or nuclear weapons: which path is more realistic?
  3. How many weapons does it take to defeat muscovy? 
  4. Victory’s economic dimension: all for sale? 
  5. The West and russia after the elections in the U.S.: what to expect?

Event language: Ukrainian with simultaneous interpretation into English.
