Diplomatic fast chess tournament

On Wednesday, 27 May 2026, a charity diplomatic fast chess tournament was held at the GDIP Media Center. Members of the Embassy of Montenegro in Ukraine, the European Union Delegation to Ukraine, the European Investment Bank, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and the GDIP took part in the event.

The competition is organized by the Ukrainian Chess Federation and the Shakhist chess club, in partnership with the GDIP.

The tournament ran in the Swiss-system format, comprising 5 rounds, with each game lasting 10 minutes plus a 5-second increment per move, starting from the first.

All proceeds from the event will be donated directly to support children and young members of the Shakhist chess club.

Tomas Stravinskas, an employee of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, won the tournament; second place went to Yaroslav Novytskyi, an employee of the GDIP; and third place went to Andrija Đuranović, first secretary and Deputy Ambassador of Montenegro to Ukraine. Oksana Kramar, office manager at the European Investment Bank’s Regional Representation for Eastern Europe, was named the best female participant in the tournament.

The tournament brought together members of the diplomatic corps and the chess community to support a charitable goal: helping young Ukrainian chess players.
