Ahead of the 4th anniversary of the de-occupation of the capital’s suburbs, we invite you to take part in this historical tour. You will walk through the places, which were seriously affected by the onslaught of the russian occupying forces during the early days of the war, following a unique route: Moshchun — Bucha — Borodianka — Irpin. It was here, in February–March 2022, that tragic events unfolded which had a decisive impact on the subsequent course of the russian–Ukrainian war. You will walk through sites where Ukraine’s modern history was forged and honour the fallen defenders at the Angels of Victory Memorial Complex, one of a kind in Europe. In Bucha, you will visit St Andrew’s Church, next to which lies the site of a mass grave of Ukrainian civilians. In Borodianka, you will explore the Museum of Occupation’s exhibition; in Irpin, you will see the destroyed Central House of Culture, the car cemetery, and the famous Romanivskyi Bridge. You will also witness the murals created by street artist Banksy during his 2022 visit to these settlements.
This tour will allow you to feel the steadfastness of strength of towns and villages, to listen to the guide’s stories of their residents’ heroic resistance, and to confront the truth of the tragic chapters of today’s russian-Ukrainian war and the struggle of Ukrainians for independence.
