An Evening of Argentine Tango by the Embassy of the Argentine Republic in Ukraine

Passion and brilliance are the constant companions of authentic Argentine tango, where every movement conveys emotion, and the partners’ gazes express the unspeakable.

On Thursday, 24 October 2024, the Kyiv National Academic Operetta Theatre hosted a joint international project An Evening of Argentine Tango featuring soloists and choreographers from Argentina alongside soloists, the ballet, and the orchestra of the National Operetta of Ukraine.

The Embassy of the Argentine Republic in Ukraine organised the event with the organisational support of the State Enterprise ‘Directorate-General for Rendering Services to Diplomatic Missions’.

The concert displayed Argentine soloist Analia Celis, dancers, and choreographers Nicolás Correa and Romina García Fleury, who travelled from Tucumán (Argentina). Additionally, guests enjoyed performances by renowned Ukrainian tenor Yurii Hodo and soloist of the National Operetta of Ukraine Kateryna Aleksieieva.

An Evening of Argentine Tango opened with welcoming speeches by Elena Leticia Mikusinski, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Argentine Republic in Ukraine, Anastasiia Bondar, Deputy Minister for Digital Development, Digital Transformations and Digitalisation, and Oksana Kohut, Commercial Director of the Kyiv National Academic Operetta Theatre.

In her welcoming address, Elena Leticia Mikusinski stated that art serves as one of the powerful tools of public diplomacy, and the close cooperation between artists from both countries exemplifies strong cultural support:

This concert represents not only an exceptional artistic event but also an act of cultural resistance and solidarity. The partnership between Argentine and Ukrainian artists reaffirms that art remains a powerful force capable of forging strong connections and offering hope during this challenging time for Ukraine!’

Guests, including representatives from the foreign and domestic diplomatic corps, government authorities, and partners, fully enjoyed the vibrant spectrum of the musical and dance programme. The event proved so rich and emotional that the audience greeted the performers with loud and prolonged ovations.
