A training session on the Communication Strategy of Government Authorities is currently underway at the GDIP Media Center. The Directorate-General team organised this training with support from the German Hanns Seidel Foundation in Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the Hennadii Udovenko Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine at the MFA of Ukraine, and the West Ukrainian National University.
On Wednesday, 9 October 2024, Larysa Shustenko, an expert in strategic communications and head of B2B communication projects and programmes at Oschadbank, continued to explore communication in crises with the training audience. After examining relevant methodologies and analysing a series of case studies in crisis communications, Ms Shustenko provided important advice for communication specialists. She emphasised the importance of avoiding unnecessary shouting, such as ‘Wolves!’ or ‘PSYOP’, and advised never to lie and to verify information before sharing it. Additionally, she encouraged participants to learn about open information sources and stakeholders who can publish facts on their behalf. Finally, she stressed the importance of considering these stakeholders and not hesitating to speak the truth to one’s supervisor.
On Friday, 11 October 2024, Viktoriia Davydova, advisor on press and information at the EU Delegation to Ukraine, delivered the sixth lecture on Communication Strategy on Ukraine’s European Integration. Ms Davydova elaborated on the foundations and principles of EU communication, described the internal and external communications of the EU, highlighted priority information and communication trends and tools of the European External Action Service, as well as the information and communication strategy and planning of the EU Delegation to Ukraine. Furthermore, he provided examples of information and communication programmes and projects, informational materials, and products.
During the panel discussions of the Communication Strategy of Government Authorities training, participants actively posed questions to the speakers and shared their communication experiences.
