Opening of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Moldova in Dnipro

Developing cooperation at the regional level and strengthening diplomatic relations between countries are important steps toward enhancing international relations, especially during wartime. Recently, an Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Moldova officially opened in Dnipro under the Dnipropetrovsk Region Consular District.

The establishment of a regional diplomatic mission is an important step in the bilateral relations between the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. It shows the undeniable mutual aspiration to bolster cooperation in economy, culture, humanitarian initiatives, and intergovernmental ties. The opening of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Moldova in Dnipro is a part of the Embassy’s efforts to expand its diplomatic presence in Ukraine’s regions, including those suffering from russian aggression.

The opening ceremony involved representatives of the diplomatic corps, government officials, entrepreneurs, public figures, and friends of Ukraine and Moldova.

Welcome speeches were delivered by Valeriu Chiveri, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Moldova to Ukraine; Serhii Stetsiuk, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Moldova in Dnipro; Mykhailo Podolyak, Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine; and Mykhailo Radutskyi, a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Head of Ukraine–Moldova Parliamentary Friendship Group.

In his welcome speech, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Moldova to Ukraine Valeriu Chiveri stated that the opening of the Honorary Consulate would deepen cooperation between the two countries and create new opportunities for the development of economic and cultural ties and the settlement of issues that concern the citizens and businesses of both sides.

Consul of the Republic of Moldova in Dnipro Serhii Stetsiuk took the opportunity to express his gratitude for the support and the trust placed in him and confirmed his willingness to make efforts to strengthen Ukrainian-Moldovan relations. He stressed that he would do everything in his power to facilitate interaction at every level and contribute to the prosperity of both countries.

The opening of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Moldova in Dnipro during the russian-Ukrainian war is a testament to the trust and support Ukraine enjoys from other countries. This significant diplomatic decision will result in closer contact between both countries’ citizens and governments and support for initiatives to develop economic cooperation and cultural exchange.
