On Saturday, 28 June 2025, the staff of the Media Center Directorate organised a new educational and cultural event for diplomats — a tour and hands-on workshop entitled From Cocoa Beans to Chocolate.
Staff members of the Embassies of Mexico, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, as well as representatives of the UNHCR Office in Ukraine, attended the event, which took place at the 13beans craft workshop. The participants learned about the full cycle of bean-to-bar chocolate production — from purchasing cocoa beans in Latin America to moulding and packaging the final bar.
The participants learnt about the technology of turning beans into chocolate, and the company’s founder spoke about the intricacies of chocolate craft and the history of the enterprise’s development: from a small workshop back in 2015 to a supplier of products to more than 120 establishments and retail chains.
An interactive hands-on workshop became the highlight of the event. All participants created their own chocolate bars with interesting flavours, adding nuts, spices, freeze-dried fruits, and berries. In addition, diplomats joined the tasting and savoured the chocolate products.
The event allowed diplomats to visit a local Ukrainian craft business, engage with expert chocolatiers, and learn more about the country’s chocolate culture, which blends ancient traditions with an innovative approach.
