On Saturday, 16 November 2024, the team of the GDIP Media Center conducted a new walking tour to one of the most popular museums in Kyiv — the Water Information Centre, also known as the Water Museum. The representatives of the Embassies of Canada, Denmark, the USA and the Delegation of the European Union joined the tour.
The Water Museum is a popular destination for Kyiv residents and capital’s guests. Ten years ago, the centre welcomed its one and a half millionth visitor, and representatives of more than a hundred countries have visited it. This is not surprising, as this place is a historic architectural monument and has been the main source of water for the city’s residents for several generations.
Oleksandr Berehovyi, Deputy Director for Exhibition Work, welcomed the participants of the walking tour and sincerely thanked the representatives of the Danish Embassy for the assistance of their country’s Ministry of Environment and the initiative taken to create this wonderful museum. The diplomats explored the interactive exposition of the Water Information Centre and learned more about the extremely important role of water in nature and human life, as well as methods of its rational use in daily life. Afterwards, the foreign guests made a virtual journey through the sewerage system to the treatment facilities of the Bortnychi Aeration Station. During this fascinating journey, the visitors observed the process of glacier melting, rainfall and geyser eruptions. Moreover, the diplomats had a chance to stand inside a huge soap bubble, test their muscles on a water pump and get acquainted with Japanese koi carp.
At the end of their visit, the tour participants climbed the water tower and admired Kyiv’s landscapes from a bird’s eye view.
