Connecting with art and feeling like an artist, plunging into the world of colours, shapes, and emotions, unwinding with inspiration, ease, and creativity — all of this became possible this weekend during an entertaining pastime organised by the GDIP team.
On 12 April 2025, the intuitive art studio Isaeva Gallery — an outstanding location in the centre of Kyiv with a spectacular view of one of Kyiv’s main holy sites, the Saint Sophia Cathedral — hosted an art masterclass entitled Painting and Wine. The event brought together employees of the Embassies of Canada, Finland, and the United Kingdom, and representatives of the EU and Mercy Corps.
Under the attentive guidance of an experienced painter, the diplomats ventured into the world of painting and practised new artistic techniques. They also got introduced to the basics of colour theory, learned how to create shades by mixing colours and how to choose a harmonious palette to suit their artwork. The instructor helped each participant express their vision on canvas: some of them chose to take an already existing painting as a reference, while a few others painted their original pieces.
The art session ran in a laid-back, cosy atmosphere, complete with fine refreshments and a glass of rosé wine. Afterwards, each participant took home a painting they created as a memento of the unique experience that allowed them to take a fresh look at art and unlock their latent creative potential.
The Painting and Wine masterclass turned out to be a means of relaxation for the foreign guests and a way of self-expression.
