Pavlo Kryvonos, GDIP Director-General, meets guests from the Democratic Republic of the Congo

On 26 August 2025, the headquarters of the State Enterprise ‘Directorate-General for Rendering Services to Diplomatic Missions’ (GDIP) hosted a meeting between Director-General Pavlo Kryvonos and a delegation from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Among the distinguished guests were Chantal Chambu Mwavita, Minister for Human Rights (May 2024 – August 2025), human rights advocate and leader of MONADEP political party; H.E. Ms Clémentine Shakembo Kamanga, Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to Poland and Hungary; as well as Roman Mehela, Honorary Consul of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Uzhhorod.

During the meeting, Mr Kryvonos outlined the history and activities of the enterprise, which has been a reliable partner of foreign diplomatic missions in Ukraine for many years. The delegation was introduced to the organisation’s key areas of expertise, ranging from property leasing, construction and renovation to publishing projects, guided tours, student initiatives, as well as transport and HR services. The presentation of the Sports and Diplomatic Club on Trukhaniv Island — a unique venue offering facilities for active recreation and informal networking — proved to be of special interest to the guests.

The representatives of the DRC shared their impressions of their visit to Ukraine and expressed hopes for the further strengthening and expansion of cooperation at governmental and inter-agency levels.

As part of the meeting, Mr Mehela, Honorary Consul of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Uzhhorod, was conferred with an honorary distinction by GDIP on the occasion of his jubilee.  This award highlights his significant contribution to international cooperation, the advancement of Ukrainian-Congolese relations, and his active engagement in public and cultural initiatives fostering mutual understanding between nations. The award was formally presented by the Director-General Pavlo Kryvonos. The entire GDIP team extends its warmest congratulations to Mr Mehela on his birthday, wishing him robust health, family warmth, boundless energy, new achievements, and inspiration for the realisation of all his endeavours. May each new day bring him joy, success, and confidence in the chosen path, while his dedicated work continues to reinforce friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of Ukraine and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Ukraine and the Democratic Republic of the Congo are demonstrating a strong commitment to broadening the horizons of cooperation. Both countries are keen to strengthen political and economic ties, with mutual support on the international stage paving the way for new and successful stories of partnership.
